Comparative between Powder Paint and Liquid Paint

We developed this material to compare the performance of Liquid Paint to the performance of Powder Paint, which is the new painting process of products made by Guerra. The work is based on Norma Tecnica AGNT 0490 and AGNT 0341.

Salt Spray
It determines the resistance of the product against corrosion. The more hours the product resists, the longer utile life the painted part will have, but there is no relation between the number of hours and time exposure. It has been proved that powder paint is three times superior to liquid paint.

Environment
The powder paint is organic – exempt from heavy metal in its composition (e.g. lead, this way it is ecological without causing damage to the environment).

Impact
It indicates the resistance of the paint to hit. The hotter, the more resistant the layer of the paint is against hit attacking the component; in this case powder paint is 50% superior to liquid paint.

Resistance to Water
It indicates the resistance of the product when it is immersed in water without losing the color, wrinkling and presenting bubbles. Powder paint is 150% superior to  Liquid Paint.

Resistance to Diesel Oil
The more the product remains without wrinkles and bubbles in the paint, the better it is. We prove that powder paint is 108% superior to liquid paint.

Layer
It is the quantity of paint deposited in the part which provides the product with mechanical protection.

Flexibility
It determines the resistance of the product against folding (no cracks).

Resistance to Water
No lost of color, wrinkling or bubbles in room temperature.

Salt Spray
It determines the resistance of the product against corrosion. The more hours the product resists, the longer utile life the painted part will have, but there is no relation between the number of hours and time exposure. (No bubbles and inferior detachment 3mm deep in the cutting area.)

Wet Chamber
It determines the product’s resistance to humidity. The exposure of painted parts to humidity combined with the temperature can create bubbles and detachment. The more hours, the more extended utile life the product has. (No bubbles and inferior detachment 3mm deep in the cutting area.)

Impact
It indicates the resistance of the paint to hits. The greater the number, the more resistant the layer of the paint is against hits attacking the component (no cracks).

Resistance to Diesel Oil
The more time the product remains without wrinkles and bubbles in the paint, the better it is. (no wrinkles and no bubbles)

Process of Powder Paint

1- Verification of the surface
The structure comes from the assembly line and it is positioned in the cabin in order to clean the surface, and a general verification is made.

2- Process of Spurting
The process of steel grit blast (micro spheres) is applied on the surface with  high pressure blast of air. All the oxidation, oils and grease are removed in this phase..

3- Cleaning the surface
After blasting, the structure goes to another cabin where a minute cleaning is made, clearing the surface from every trace of grit.

4- Powder Paint application
The principle of the application is magnetic; the structure receives a negative electric current and the powder is adhered to the surface by receiving a positive electric charge when it passes through the pistol. The paint treatment process takes place only in the following phase, where the non- conformities evidenced in the process of application can be perfectly remade, without any loss whatsoever as far as the quality of the final paint is concerned.

5- Heater
This is the last stage of the powder paint process. The structure is heated in this cabin with a variable temperature reaching the 220 C in maximum 45 minutes. This process of monitored heating promotes the fusion of the paint in the structure for the perfect finishing of the painting.

6- Ultimate Finishing
The process of  painting is concluded when the structure freezes at room temperature.
